Coronavirus (Covid-19) Risks & the Prevention of Contamination on Flowers & Gifts

Coronavirus (Covid-19) Risk Prevention with Flowers & Gifts

The Corona virus or Covid-19 pandemic has turned our entire world upside down, and quite understandably, has made us all a little concerned when it comes to shopping, whether online or at retail stores. Rest assured though, we are working hard to ensure you can send and receive flowers and gifts safely during these uncertain times.

While the spread of the Coronavirus via flowers has not been as thoroughly researched as with other surfaces, the types of conditions we expose our flowers and packages to, including shifts in temperature, humidity, days lapsed between packaging and delivery etc, lowers any risks considerably. According to the WHO (World Health Organization) and CDC (Centers for Disease Control): "The likelihood of an infected person contaminating commercial goods is low and the risk of catching the virus that causes COVID-19 from a package that has been moved, travelled, and exposed to different conditions and temperature is also low."

Our Flower & Gift Packaging Safety Protocols

  • Our staff have been significantly reduced to avoid contamination amongst themselves and to reduce the number of people handling our products
  • Our staff wear the necessary PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when handling our products
  • Warehouses, storage areas, containers and vehicles are sanitized daily

What we are doing to help flatten the curve when delivering flowers

  • We are all working from home
  • Staff will be checked and scanned for any infections, high temperatures, illnesses, sniffles, and sneezes
  • Our florist is buying the flowers and vases etc from our market which has all the required sanitising measures in place
  • Masks and a face shield will be worn when delivering your gifts
  • Our florist and/or delivery staff will sanitize their hands before and after each delivery, and will maintain safe distance from the recipient
  • Delivery sheets do not need to be signed to avoid unnecessary contact
  • You may also request that we leave the flowers or gift at the gate or door

Safety Tips for Receiving Flowers and Packages

  • Wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds or hand sanitizer
  • Be sure to put your mask on when opening the door
  • Maintain a distance of 1.8m from the delivery person
  • To put your mind at ease, we recommend you wipe down glass or ceramic containers with 70% alcohol content sanitizer, but please do not spray the flowers with sanitizers
  • Wipe hamper items down and throw away boxes, wrapping or packaging
  • Please wash your hands thoroughly with soap or santizer once you have finished handling the flowers or hamper, and then moisturize your hands
  • Do not touch your face, mouth, eyes, or nose while handling any packages that you have received

Most importantly, do not be afraid to spoil your loved ones during this difficult time… browse our gorgeous range of flowers here or our delectable hampers here, and place your order online today.
